Ok. My house is the official death row for all appliances and electronics. First is was the dryer (five years old.) Then it was the fridge (three years old.) Now, it is my TV, which is less than one year old!!! Thank goodness Black Friday is right around the corner, and at least I will be able to find a replacement at a good deal. It comes in threes, and I have fulfilled my quota!
In the news from my city today are the following…
1. A women went into the hospital and said she had just had a baby. She put the baby in a trash bag and left it on the side of the road. It was found dead. The police are investigating.
2. A three hours old preemie was found on a woman’s doorstep. The woman brought it to the hospital, and baby is in stable condition in the NICU. The police are trying to locate the mother.
Both stories are irritating. However, what troubles me is that the police are looking for the second mother. I would rather have what mother #2 did over #1. Will the police hunt deter women from leaving babies in a relatively safe place and instead opt for hiding the baby? Hiding babies leads to dead babies. I am fully aware that they could leave the baby at a hospital or police station, and this is of course the best option. However, there are cameras there. These women obviously don’t want to be found. The only reason mother #1 went to the hospital was because she was bleeding. I wish somebody like P.lanned P.arenthood would set up a rule where these women could go there, give birth, get an exam, and they would bring the babies to the hospital. Something has to be better than a trash bag and a door step.
Well hate to run, but we have tornadoes all around. It’s pouring rain, and dark dark dark outside. Yuck.

ARGH this just “kills” me to hear about abandoned babies. Almost as annoying as seeing Crack Mama at Wal-Mart with 5 kids in tow. And those of us who are slightly healthier (physically, mentally, financially) can’t have kids. ARGH.

Those kind of stories (realities, I guess) always sting. It’s such a blaring reminder of how having children and being a parent isn’t determined by merit or fairness. And that just sucks. My heart just breaks for those babies.

My heart is broken thinking about those babies. And about how I wish the one in the trash bag had been left on MY doorstep. Why does this still happen? Intellectually, I know why. My heart just doesn’t understand it.
In re: your electronics…at least they didn’t get hit by lightning! :-p

Stories like that break my heart.
I hope your new appliances/electronics have a long life!
