Are we there yet?

Happy Birthday to Me!

December 3, 2007 · 28 Comments

Today is my birthday.  I’ve never been timid about admitting my age.  Perhaps one day?  Probably not though.  I’m 28 today.  This makes me the same age as my mother, well at least the age she stated when she first started lying about her age.  Now, I think she tells them something in the mid thirties.  Love you mom!

I feel like we celebrated all weekend long!  Friday my brother arrived.  I spent a good part of the day shopping with both of my parents and Lucky.  Friday night we all ate dinner together and just hung out.  Saturday, my birthday wishes were obliged, and my back bedroom was painted.  It’s no longer that girly color, but more of a coffee with a whooooole lot of cream in it.  Very boy.

In the afternoon, we went out for Japanese food.  Yummy!  It was priceless to watch Lucky’s face as they cooked food in front of us.  His mouth was wide open with wonderment.  We then went home and had cake and ice cream with friends.  After those festivities, my husband, brother, a bunch of our friends, and I went to play some pool.  We stayed up way past our bedtime, finally snuggling together at 2:30 in the morning.

We woke up yesterday, and I went back to my parents’ house to get the baby and my mom.  Mom and I went and picked up a few groceries while the boys finished painting.  The middle of the day was spent playing with some of my birthday gifts.  Who doesn’t love playing Trouble?!  What an excellent birthday present.  It reminds me of being little, and who doesn’t love nostalgic gifts?  Then, we went to dinner again at a local steakhouse.

So, there you have it.  My birthday has officially been celebrated!  My house looks like a tornado ripped through here though.  So, hopefully tonight we can put the room back in working order.  I’m off to the kitchen to get myself a cup of coffee that my husband brewed just for me this morning.  Just one more reason I married him.
