We’ve been on the trying to conceive roller coaster for over five years. My husband and went through the s.ocial s.ervices classes and completed our home study in April of 2007. In May of that year we were called regarding our son who was five weeks old and healthy. We became parents that day. We’ve run the gamut with assisted reproductive technology. We went through one cycle of Clomid, four IUIs, one IVF cycle (revealing premature ovarian failure,) and then a donor egg IVF cycle. We just found out we are pregnant (August 08,) and now the goal becomes staying that way.
Our adoption was finalized on September 30th, 2008. Our son was seventeen months old, and it was a day of pure magic.
You will see much discussed here, some of which you may disagree with. I’m liberal, raising a biracial child, used donor eggs to conceive, and am certainly a Northern kind of gal living in the heart of the South. Makes for some good times! All I ask is you be respectful, and I turn will be the same.
Oh, you want more now do you?
I met my husband in a bar. Oh yes, a bar. The full story can be read here.

Hello,
I enjoyed reading your site. My husband and I just started to explore the idea of seeking help from a fertility specialist. I have heard about clomid…..but who can prescribe it? Do I have to go to a fertility specialist or can I get it from my regular gynocologist?
We have been tryin for 1 year, post a first trimstr miscarriage (worse time in my life). And help from experienced seekers.
Thank you for your help.

Hi there,
I found your blog via a few others. I want to say congrats on the adoption of your son. He is a cutie! And congrats on your pregnancy. I send good thoughts your way.
I can relate in many ways…my hubby and I have been down the IF highway for almost 8 years total now. We first experienced male factors, then had 3 IVF’s with 5 FET’s, now egg quality with nothing there.
We decided to go full-force with our intl. adoption and we are just waiting. A few months ago our fertility office called with matched donor emby’s . So here we are…now I have polyps again…so that is my first concern.
I just wanted to say hello, share my story, and tell you that I am excited to find a blogger who understands (lingo and experiences). I am excited for the donor emby’s and feel it is a chance to be pregnant and become a mommy.
I wish you all the best. Thanks so much for listening. I love your blog!

Just wanted to say I have recently stumbled on your site, and I am really enjoying.
My husband and I have just passed the 1 year mark of TTC, but we have done 5 months of clomid and 2 IUIs now. So….this could take a while.

I am putting together a manuel for couples grieving infertility who are applying for adoption. I really like your blog entitled, “Things I Wish I Could Tell People About Grieving Infertility” and would like permission to include it in the manuel. We are attempting to start a support group to assist couples in grief/loss resolution over a period of 8 weeks. Please advise in writing if I have your permission to use this.
